How To Eat Plant-Based On A Budget

Being in your twenties often means that you need to be a little more aware of your finances in order to save for the future. After feeling my own financial stress and wanting to save up for some awesome adventures (#vanlife) I have compiled my top 5 tips for eating plant-based on a budget:

  1. Avoid processed ready meals and fake meats. Although they can be incredibly helpful and time-saving, they can often “break the bank” and aren’t as nutritionally sound. More processing usually means more preservatives, salt, and other nasties.

  2. Eat seasonal fruits and veggies that are on sale. Eating seasonally is usually cheaper because they are, well, in season and didn’t have to be shipped from far places. And eating seasonally also means that you will be eating a wider variety of plants, which is good for your micronutrients.

  3. Buy pantry items in bulk. This means oats, rice, beans, pasta, nuts, seeds, legumes, and more.

  4. Cook at home! It is so much cheaper to make your own favorite meals than it is to buy them in store or from a restaurant. If you cook in bulk too then you can save yourself time and money!

  5. Look for sales/deals on your “luxury” items like PB, pasta, bread, condiments, sauces, spices, etc.

These tools have helped me cut down my spending and actually start saving towards my goals, hope you found these helpful!
